Fergus Falls is located 175 miles northwest of the Twin Cities. The City offers I-94 as well as state Highway access and excellent police and fire protection. Fergus Falls is a micropolitan that has a diversified economy that includes healthcare, manufacturing, commercial, agricultural, information technology and utilities. The area offers many recreational activities with 1,000 lakes in the county. The city is a "Tree City USA" recipient and is known for its treed boulevards and many well kept community parks. Fergus Falls (population13,603) is the government county seat of Otter Tail County (projected 2010 population 63,240).

Lake Region Healthcare is a premier 108-bed hospital voted "Thompson Top 100 Hospitals." The success of Lake Region Healthcare is evident in its recognition by national organizations and other groups who rank the country’s health care facilities. A

Mehl Center/Athletic Republic—A sports training facility located inside the LRHC Mehl Center is dedicated to providing the best sports training to athletes of all ages. Some of the equipment includes, generation II Running treadmill, hockey treadmill, and plyometrics. Recreational Opportunities
The Red Horse Ranch Arena is a leading equine center located in the rolling, wooded hills of West Central Minnesota, along the Otter Tail River, six miles north of Fergus Falls. The RHRA facility is built on 225 private country acres with trails and hills overlooking the Otter Tail River. Offering more than 144,000 square feet under one

Community Arena—The community arena has two NHL sized sheets of ice, which allows for hockey and figure skating. Additionally, the north arena will be able to accommodate five curling sheets. The floor will be equipped with anchors for tennis courts, baseball/batting cages and soccer. Seating in the main arena is for 870 people,
including wheelchair accessibility and a press area on the upper level. The north arena will have seating capacity for 324 and wheelchair seating.

Pebble Lake Golf Course—The 18-hole course features 6,742 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 72.3 and it has a slope rating of 128 on Blue grass. Designed by Paul N. Coates, the Pebble Lake golf course opened in 1941. Visit: www.playpebblelake.com

Natural Environment—Hunting and fishing in Minnesota are popular pastimes. Otter Tail County’s tall grass prairies, forests and 1,048 lakes lend themselves to great hunting, fishing, hiking and birding.

Many honors have been bestowed on Fergus Falls including being recognized as a "Tree City USA" since 1978, making us not only the first, but the longest standing "Tree City" in Minnesota. We received recognition from the Governor's office as a Fit City as well. The 22 parks covering over 600 acres of maintained park land around the city provide many opportunities for our residents and visitors to enjoy.

Prairie Wetlands Learning Center—The Prairie Wetlands Learning Center is the first residential environmental education center operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and focuses on the understanding of prairies and wetlands. The Prairie Wetlands Learning Center includes 330 acres of native and restored prairie, 28 wetlands, an oak savannah, and 3.5 miles of trails. The Visitor Center houses a 2500 square foot exhibit area, six classrooms, and a multi-purpose meeting room and dining hall. The Center provides both day and residential environmental education and interpretation of the prairie pothole region for learners of all ages. The Prairie Wetlands Learning Center offers environmental education programs for learners of all ages. The programs feature hands-on and minds-on activities taught by professional educators, college interns, and highly trained volunteers.

Central Lakes Trail—This paved trail is open to non-motorized visitors with the exception of snowmobiles during the winter season. It is great for walking, running, bicycling, in-line skating, roller skiing, wheelchairs, etc. Visit: www.centrallakestrail.com

Cross Country Skiing—Spidahl Ski Gaard offers twenty kilometers of cross country ski trails. It is located just fourteen miles NE of Fergus Falls, MN in Friberg Township. Visit: www.skigaard.com

YMCA—The YMCA facility includes: Gymnasium, Fitness Cardiovascular Fitness Area, 4-Lane Running/Walking Track, Community Room, Aerobic Exercise Room, 25-Meter Swimming Pool, Large Free-Weight Room, 3 Racquetball Courts, Locker Rooms with Saunas, Youth Activity Room.

Fergus Falls School District 544—The Fergus Falls school district covers over 340 square miles and is comprised of 6 schools; Adams Elementary houses grades 1-2, the Area Learning Center for high school students, Cleveland Elementary serves grades 3-5, McKinley Elementary is a kindergarten site that also serves Early Childhood Family Education and School Readiness, and the Kennedy Secondary School. In addition, the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center, a residential environmental education center operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is used for half of each school day by about 200 4th and 5th graders for science, health, and writing lessons involving field-based learning experiences. The district also includes the IQ Academy of Minnesota, an on-line school, for grades 6-12. The district employs 146 teachers of whom over 61% are master’s degree prepared and 80% have more than10 years of teaching experience.
